How Content Gets Assigned to Your Sessions

You don’t plan your Sessions one by one. The platform tracks where each of your groups is in the curriculum and puts the right thing on the group’s next Session - an icebreaker, a pre-assessment, a building block, a lesson, or a post-assessment - based on who’s in the group and what they still need. You walk in with the agenda already set.

The Phases a Group Moves Through

Every group moves through the same phases, in order, and the phase decides what gets assigned:

Icebreaker - the group’s first scheduled Session is reserved for one. No lesson or assessment.
Pre-assessment - the group’s pre-assessments go out to the students who still owe them.
Building blocks - the lessons that close the gaps the pre-assessment found.
Lesson sequence - the curriculum, in order.
Post-assessment - measures growth at the end of the Program.
Complete.

Only Your Next Session Gets Assigned

The platform sets content for the group’s next scheduled Session, not the whole term. Later Sessions get theirs as they become the next one.

This is deliberate, and it’s what keeps your schedule from going stale. A lesson that runs long, a Session that gets rescheduled, a week off - none of it knocks the rest of your calendar out of order, because nothing downstream was filled in yet.

How a Group Moves Forward

A group advances to the next phase once enough of the group has met the current phase’s condition - by default 60% of the students, rounded up, and always at least one.

Mastery is measured per student, never as a group average. The threshold is about when the group as a whole moves on, not about averaging anyone’s performance.

A student who joins after the group has already started lessons doesn’t count toward the threshold, so a late arrival can’t stall the group.

Students Who Fall Behind Still Get Caught Up

If a student owes a pre- or post-assessment, the platform assigns it to them on their next scheduled Session even if the group has moved on to something else. Assignments are per student, so students in the same Session may be working different things, and one student may have more than one assessment to get through.

If every student at a lesson Session owes an assessment, the assessment takes the place of the lesson for that Session, rather than leaving a lesson nobody is going to work on.

Pre-Assessments in More Detail

Each pre-assessment on the group’s list goes to every student who hasn’t already submitted it in the current Program’s date window. A student’s submission carries with them across groups in the same Program, so a student who moves between your groups mid-Program isn’t asked to retake it. A new Program starts fresh with a new pre-assessment, even if its dates overlap an earlier one.

If a student has finished every pre-assessment on the list but the group hasn’t moved on yet, that student has nothing auto-assigned for the Session. What they do with that time is your call - a game or independent activity works well.

Post-Assessments

Post-assessments land on the final Sessions of a Program. Two things can trigger them, whichever comes first:

Enough of the group is ready - the group has finished the lesson sequence and enough Sessions remain to fit the post-assessments in.
You’re running out of Sessions - only just enough Sessions remain before the group’s planned last Session, whether or not the group is ready. End-of-Program reporting depends on this data, so this one always fires.

The count is against the group’s planned last scheduled Session on the calendar, not the Program’s end date.

How Math Groups Move Between Domains

A Math group works through its current Domain’s lessons. When the Domain’s post-assessment comes back for enough of the group, the platform moves the group on to its next Domain on its own. If only a few Sessions are left in the engagement, the group finishes in the Domain it’s in rather than starting a new one.

If a Group Changes Program

Same curriculum - the group keeps its place and carries on.
Different curriculum - the group takes a new pre-assessment and starts over.
